The innovative new bi-color FABRIC-LITE, as the name implies, is completely flexible, foldable and offers great flexibility for transport. Mounting options for the FABRIC-LITE are virtually limitless, including all types of butterfly, overhead, wall and ceiling mounts, thanks to the integrated Velcro and grommets. The 3‘x3‘ panel can be easily mounted on a Matthews frame or similar.
For stand-alone, use an optional Aladdin Frame and Diffuser (softbox with siver internal reflector) is available, converting the FABRIC-LITE into a 3’X3’ soft light source that can be mounted on a light stand or attached to a lighting grid. Each 3×3-foot fabric panel can be used separately, or combined with others to create a light source as large as 12×12 feet (one Dimmer per Panel). The fixture offers high control over lighting. It is dimmable from 100-0% and the color temperature can be adjusted from 2900°K to 6300°K.
The Dimmer runs from main power supply or battery and has a built-in Lumen Radio module for DMX control. The included Dimmer features an integrated battery mount (Gold-Mount or V-Mount depending on the configuration ordered).
Every once in while you are facing a very difficult shooting location. For us it was at a dark moody hotel bar. Small windows and a lot of mirrors to manage. It was a light situation doomed to fail.
But the job has to be done and we aren’t afraid of these situations. At least not when we got our Aladdin Lights with us. For this we had a Bi-Flex 1, Bi-Flex 2 and the brand new Fabric-Lite.
Working with the Fabric-Lite for the first time is really eye-opening. It’s the most soft and natural light source we ever worked with. And you know what? It weights almost nothing which gives you some extra mounting possibilities.
Overall we were able to manage lighting our bar situation. This would have been possible with other lights as well, but I’m most certain it wouldn’t have been that easy and fast. We are in love with the Aladdin Lights and wouldn’t want to miss them on our sets.
These lights are everything I need on set. They match so smoothly, and I never ever have to worry about color temperature mixes. We have used three Aladdin Lights on our shoot for ‘Monsieur Merkli’, a Swiss fashion brand. With the Fabric-Lites on each side we brought all the little details to the surface. The super soft light made the clothes really come alive. The top light gave our model an incredible god-like glow.
The fact we could build this studio from scratch in an empty room amazes me. These lights are not only powerful, they are easy to carry as well. You won’t need the jumbo-maxi-super-tripod with 15 additional sandbags to get them in the air. This saves time and carrying weight as well.
I can recommend the Aladdin Lights to anyone who wants to work fast, clean and smart. The result of this video shoot is exactly what we have expected. We are confident to use Aladdin Lights on our future projects.
